Secret "Cells"

Who could be opposed to a tutorial multimedia demonstration on the dangers of terrorism, right? Well, unless the sponsors of "The CELL" are closely tied to the American-Israel Public Affairs Committee, and are funded by the likes of the Dershowitz Group and the US Department of Homeland Security. The Colorado ACLU learned that this particular organization is closely tied to the Denver Performing Arts Center and the Mizel Museum. I'm not paranoid about AIPAC, but I'm worried that the presentation CELL will provide will be far from objective - and must a publicly-funded museum tout presentations from government security agencies? Thankfully, the online Colorado Independent paid attention to these disturbing aspects, because the rest of the Colorado media seemed to give it a free pass.

"Terrorism: the most important global issue of our time" ??

Terrorism is one of those things that gets bigger the more you fight it, at least if you fight it the way certain governments do. We watched "United 93" when they aired it on TV the other night, and I appreciated it for its straightforward telling. For showing the men/boys who hijacked the plane out of warped tents of their faith as misled people, not 'terrorists.' I'm not saying there is anything anyone can say or do to change the thinking of jihadist terrorists, but bombs and guns are only exploding the fervor into bigger numbers.

"Warped tents" ? No, warped tenets. Maybe the tents are warped too.

Sad....and scary.....sounds like more glorified propaganda to reinforce the religious and cultural polarizations necessary to maintain fear and to discourage understanding and global unity.

israeli defense forces...did the exhibit include clips of rios montt's scorched earth policy in guatemala? and what terrorist acts did they accuse the zapatistas of? i am really tired of the abuse and misuse of that word.

Jess, dearest, you're repeating yourself, but it's good for emphasis! (and I've done it too).

You don't necessarily have to log in first, it will ask you afterward. But it should say that the comment has been left, and you should see it on your screen, or else it will ask you for another mimic word and/or for your password. That is a GREAT profile photo, btw. xxoo
Saw Jucifer Friday night, went to Heidi's surprise yesterday, thought I could make it to Monolith Fest at Red Rocks today to see TV on the Radio and The Kills and some other folk, but things just didn't work out for Red Rocks today.

Oh, and The Frames! Went to see Glenn and Marketa at the Opera House in the spring, and the entire Frames band ended up playing with them. Wonderful.
