I turned 50 in 2007, so I'm practicing curmudgeon-like behavior by stressing, "whatever it is, I'm agin' it!" Call me anarcho-syndicalist or progressive, except I think most anarchists and progressives are as annoying as neocons. I like to point folks to way-outside-the-mainstream literature and music, while grumbling about everything else.

Wow, that's so sad.....
Hmm, I always thought it was hilarious/glorious. Except, of course, the line "I don't want the world. I just want your half."
I guess I was just focusing on the theme of ("And we still haven't walked in the glow of each other's majestic presence") never finding your soul mate and the line about not being needed.......no matter the interpretation it's a great song. Once again you've shown me something new, thanks.
There's a definite bittersweet-happy in being able to acknowledge a soul mate from afar, or sense their aura "through a hole in a desktop globe." I'm a big one for believing there are plenty of opportunities for lifelong smaller states of happy than "happily ever after."
