Elizabeth Fineron, Presente! (RIP)

Elizabeth Fineron was a long-time fixture of the Colorado Springs activist scene, working on issues of housing, economics, and peace. She got a good deal of publicity when she was hurt by cops in the 2007 St. Patrick's Day arrests.

Elizabeth had been fighting many health problems for years, capped off by a botched carotid artery surgery. On April 23, only three days after coming home from an extended hospital visit, she died. The Colorado Springs Gazette, which had gotten into many disagreements with her regarding her opinion on police behavior to the peace community, wrote a surprisingly nice article about her.

That is a very nice article. She used her time well, and what resources she had. Touching and inspiring. It's sad she died so young.

I read the Colorado Springs Gazette article and it was a good tribute. This post made me contemplate the choices I make and how I choose to spend my time and energy. What differences do we make? I'll bet Elizabeth made a lot of differences which were quite public and many more she never knew.

Just remember, "it's all good." Raising quail chicks and fixing barns can mean as much as dishing out food for the homeless or carrying a sign.
