I turned 50 in 2007, so I'm practicing curmudgeon-like behavior by stressing, "whatever it is, I'm agin' it!" Call me anarcho-syndicalist or progressive, except I think most anarchists and progressives are as annoying as neocons. I like to point folks to way-outside-the-mainstream literature and music, while grumbling about everything else.

Sometime you've got to tell me how you developed your musical taste. I mean, you're only a year younger than me. I've never heard of these guys, or most of the ones you mention. I know I'm a total loser in the musical repertoire category, so maybe that's all. I'm guessing my kids know them.
Aw, not many people of any age follow Yellow Swans. They're like Ornette Coleman in the jazz department, an acquired taste. In high school, I was one of those people that listened to NY Dolls and Roxy Music when everyone else liked Deep Purple, and then I started getting into punk and NY noise by about 1976 or so, and it just continued from there. I'm not an avant-garde snob, if something that's clever becomes a million-seller, I don't stop listening to it. But with the hollowing out of Top 40 radio, that kind of event is becoming rarer and rarer these days.
Hopefully they both continue to make music. That time we saw them open for Xiu Xiu made me a lifetime fan of them.
Yeah, that was such a magical evening, because Inca Ore was dancing around them in her billowy white dress.... Damn!
